The program in Fig. 12.2 did manipulate some terminal attributes, but remained in canonical mode. The http://siber.cankaya.edu.tr/SystemsProgramming/cfiles/rawmode.c program in Fig. 12.3 puts the terminal in raw mode and performs its own processing on special characters and signals.
